Your story, your choices.
Your private chapters
Guest collections, wear logs, impressions, wishlist reminders, profile details and bottle photos are saved on your device. Account display names and note illustrations may also be stored on the server as your member identity, without being shared until you publish. Creating an account does not publish them. When you enable private sync, a complete copy is uploaded to your account through Supabase, including photos and private stories. Guest and account collections are separate unless you explicitly copy them.
Your account name
Account names are unique, ignoring capitalization and spacing. Signed-in members can check whether a name is taken; this does not reveal the account behind it. Names can normally change once every 30 days. We store the current name and last-change time, without a public name history. Contact support for mistakes or privacy concerns. Reports and blocks remain attached to the same account after a rename. Previously recorded moderation evidence or copies other people saved may retain an older name.
What you choose to share
The shared catalog contains reviewed fragrance facts and approved bottle photos. Your purchase price and impressions are private unless you deliberately include something in a public contribution. The Anthology is available only to accounts signed in with a verified email. Signing in does not publish anything. Your display name and chosen note illustration form one identity across Olfable. Your first confirmed story publication shares that byline and story with members; future identity edits update the byline on existing stories. Your private bio and uploaded profile photo are not included. Previously published bios remain visible until you remove it from your member-page preview or hide your page. Members may save screenshots or copies. Reactions are shown as totals; moderation reports and their details are restricted to moderators.
Photos, location and email
Photos you select are copied into app storage. Public bottle-photo contributions are prepared to remove metadata; private originals may still contain it. Email codes use Supabase and the configured email delivery service. If you request nearby weather, Olfable asks for foreground location and sends rounded coordinates to Open-Meteo. It does not track background location. You can choose weather manually.
Retention and deletion
Your local data remains until you remove it or the app. With V26 maintenance enabled, the current cloud copy and the newest three stored snapshots are protected. Other snapshots become eligible after 30 days, then wait at least another 24 hours before removal. Active app downloads receive a 15-minute protection period. Cleanup runs in batches, so removal may take longer. These are sync recovery copies, not a version-history service; export your own backup when needed. Delete account removes the account, synced copies, linked photos, public profile/stories, reactions and account-linked submissions. Published factual catalog references remain without account attribution. A minimal deletion receipt and account identifier remain to prevent old sessions from writing data and to confirm completion. Provider backups and operational logs follow provider retention settings; they are not erased instantly.
Copies beyond this device
Deletion cannot erase backups you exported to Files or iCloud, screenshots, or copies other people already saved. A device that registered with V26 checks for account deletion when it reconnects. After server confirmation it removes that account’s local collection and photo files not referenced by other saved collections. Network errors and expired sign-in sessions alone never trigger deletion. Unregistered devices, externally exported backups and devices offline beyond the 180-day deletion-notice period may require manual cleanup. The server keeps a random device-check token hash, disassociated from the deleted account, until acknowledgment or 180 days; the check token is stored locally outside collection exports. Sign back in only if you intend to create a new account. Public catalog photos saved into another person’s wardrobe become their independent copies.
Beta support diagnostics
Olfable keeps up to 50 allowlisted event codes and timestamps in memory during the current app session. A support report also includes the app version and operating system version. It does not include names, emails, collection contents, photos, coordinates, credentials, free-text errors or stack traces. You can preview, clear or share this report in Privacy & support. It is never uploaded automatically and resets when the app process closes. Reports you choose to email are retained in the support mailbox according to support needs.
Your choices
You can use Olfable as a guest, pause sync, export a backup, withdraw stories, hide your member page, report content and block profiles. Delete account is in Profile → Account & private sync. This build includes no advertising or analytics SDK. Infrastructure providers may process connection and diagnostic information, such as IP addresses, to deliver the service.
